If you want an hour of total, unadulterated nonsense executed with brilliant comedic precision, Will BF’s Moon Team IIIV is an absolute must-see. The UK Pun Champion brings his award-winning, lo-fi sci-fi creation straight to the Edinburgh Fringe, delivering a hilariously unhinged live mockumentary that completely skewers the concept of terrible movie sequels. Framed as a retro look back at the "best worst film you’ve never seen"—a shamelessly chaotic homage to old-school DVD bonus features and bloated sci-fi prequels—it is a whirlwind of pure, joyful absurdity that keeps the room buzzing from start to finish.
Right from the opening minute, the show sets a wonderfully chaotic, DIY tone. Will throws himself headfirst into a frantic narrative centred around Prince Apollo Moon on a cosmic quest to defeat an intergalactic space tax. What makes the production so ridiculously unique is the sheer inventiveness of its props, characters, and visual gags. Between the ever-growing, existential puppet fish named Swimothy, the robot WD40, and a silent space flower, every single character creation is a total comedy win. It feels like watching a hyperactive kid acting out an epic action movie using whatever random objects they found lying around, and it works flawlessly.
The cleverness in the writing really elevates the entire performance. Beneath the intentionally ramshackle, hand-stitched aesthetic lies a sharp satire of modern blockbuster tropes, complete with pre-recorded "talking head" interviews, bizarre vintage projector bits, and cheeky sci-fi jokes that hit without stopping. Will’s energy on stage is completely infectious as he dashes around, switching costumes, executing lightning-fast character changes, and rolling with every technical cue. The show doesn't just invite you to sit back and watch; it pulls you right into its weird little universe through gentle audience participation, including live retro video games played directly from the crowd.
What makes Will BF such a standout talent is how seamlessly he balances absurd, chaotic energy with genuine warmth and charm. You can tell every single joke, pun, and throwaway line has been meticulously crafted over time, yet it still retains that spontaneous, thrilling edge where anything could happen next. From silly prop reveals to insanely catchy musical interludes, every single moment is packed with pure creative flair. It is wildly inventive, endlessly funny, and completely unapologetic about its own silliness. Moon Team IIIV is a rare gem of a comedy show. It’s a glorious, five-star triumph that leaves your cheeks aching from nonstop laughter and proves exactly why Will BF is easily one of the most exciting sketch performers in the comedy circuit today.
